She has authored several books and booklets on family caregiving challenges and triumphs today. Caregiving Experience: Clarissa began her love for family caregiving out of high school as a nursing assitant, working in nursing homes. She has been a professional caregiver as an occupational therapist for over 22 years and has been providing direct care to older adults for over 26 years. She has extensive family caregiving experience to both living parents, grandparents who are now deceased.
She has worked in every family caregiving setting from nursing homes, home health agencies, to community-based environments such as adult day care and assisted living facilities. Fun Fact about me: Dr. Smith holds many credentials including a certificate in biblical counseling and is a licensed minister in a non-denominational church in Birmingham, Alabama. She is a post doctoral seminary graduate from Liberty Theological Seminary in Lynchburg, Virginia. She cherishes her family and loves spending time with her two sons and one daughter who is in high school. Reading is her favorite hobby.
