Caregiving Experience:
I am currently a caregiver to my Mom.

Profile:
I am a 32 year old caregiver to my mom. I became a caregiver 2 years ago when my mom (a R.N. at the age of 57) had a massive stroke, leaving her with right-sided paralysis and severe aphasia. I was living in Arizona at the time, and after I got the "phone call", I got on a plane back home to Connecticut and never went back. I am an only child and did not receive much family help, especially in beginning. I became a "warrior" overnight. I have been through every caregiving emotion there is- severe anxiety, resentfullness, depression, and even gratitude. I have become a Ccan'er for the National Family Caregiver Association so that I can help other caregivers and their families and to be an advocate for caregiver rights. I am here to help; please do not hesitate to contact me.
